Weeks 3 and 4 summary from Greg

Finally week three and four. They were great weeks, here are the highlights:

Week three – Corporate Week (all 6 DTS classes together) with Loren and Darlene Cunningham and David Hamilton
-          Phil 3:8b I consider it all ‘scubulous’ that I may gain Christ – trading all the rubbish for the glory of Christ

-          Listen to what God says and be prepared to give Him your yes, my standing answer to God is yes

-          Christ invites us into blown away worship – picturing the 24 elders around the throne in awe of Christ, bowing and saying ‘wow, wow, wow’ all the time as they worship

-          We should respond in the opposite spirit when someone or something comes against us. A variation of ‘turn the other cheek.’ Relinquish your rights and count your blessings.

-          Every day is a chance to grow, always choose the step forward.

-          Your grace ticket (the ability to go through whatever God is taking you through) arrives as you board the train.

-          Saw the sea turtles at the beach this weekend. That was awesome, we saw seven of them about five feet from us.

-          Gavin told us this week that he loves to worship when it's just a guy on stage with a guitar, no sound system, look out Matt Sterk we might need you!  ;)

Week four – Doug Richardson – “Hearing God’s Voice” (AKA: Freedom from those things that hold you back and why God speaks)
-          WAKE UP!

o   wake up to the world around you

o   when you withdraw you shut down your ability to receive and contribute

o   being awake is being available to God

o   engage life

o   life is always an invitation

o   you are no closer to God than you are to other people

-          STOP IT!

o   learn to forgive reality

o   ask yourself ‘if this situation was perfect for something, what would it be perfect for?’

o   no matter what has happened to you, it is no greater than He who is in you

o   remind yourself ‘we will not die from this’

o   all of life is a resource, do not let it use you, you use it, it's how you relate to it that makes the difference

-          Dancing with Jesus

o   hearing from God is a relational dynamic in contrast to a learned skill

o   life with God is not a march or a list of orders, it is a dance

o   man was created to be in relationship, we are His beloved

o   accept your acceptedness

o   my job is not to get people to heaven, it is to give them a taste of heaven

-          Hearing God’s voice is engaging life and hearing Him on the go, above all other noises

-          We celebrated Gavin’s 9th birthday this week with cake outside our building

-          We put down our initial deposit on the outreach this week trusting God to meet the financial need

-          Went to the volcano this week

-          Farrell will have to tell you how awesome this week was for her and for us. It was truly miraculous.
